Switching your phone to airplane mode is pretty simple and the option for it can be usually found in the quick settings area . Once you have switched your phone to airplane mode, you will have to manually turn on WiFi. This will, as a result, disable airplane mode and you will be back online. After that, open up the Google Home app and proceed with the normal setup to see if the issue persists. This could be caused due to your network settings on your phone at times, however, that’s not highly likely. With that said, we can finally get onto the different methods that you can try in order to have the issue resolved for yourself.

With the Chromecast Voice Remote

The LED light on the side or back of the device will be white. At the top right, tap SettingsMoreFactory resetFactory reset. Perhaps something is off about the original device you weren’t having any luck casting with. If you’re using your smartphone, try using your laptop or tablet.

Check it for system updates and install them if available. A majority of Chromecast devices require you to tap a Cast button within each Chromecast-compatible app. Cast controls are essential to the Chromecast experience, but sometimes the Cast feature can disappear from your mobile device.

Connect the Mobile and Chromecast to the Same Wi-Fi Network

If they didn’t, then troubleshooting isn’t your problem. The Troubleshooting list involves 3 steps, and they work on both Chromecast and Google Home. Follow all of them and see if your problem is solved. The main cause is due to the problems with your home internet connection.

To check which Wi-Fi network your Chromecast device or the mobile device is connected to, you can follow these steps. You have to press and hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast device. Soon the light will start blinking orange, don’t let go yet. Make sure that Chromecast is plugged into a TV port and hold the button for some time until you see orange/yellow LED blinking.

Your Chrome browser isn’t up to date

A Chromecast device can also be connected to the TV with a HDMI extender cable. Try using it instead of attaching the gadget directly to the TV’s USB port. You Chromecast will be able to detect the Wi-Fi signal easier. Go back to Home screen and tap Settings to open your phone’s settings. The network you’re connected to will have a blue tick next to its name. If you’re still having issues with your Chromecast or are experiencing issues we didn’t cover, you can check out the Google support page for the product.

You can fix this by opening your router settings and finding Wireless, then Channel and SSID. If so, change it to another option. If it’s still not visible to your smartphone, keep changing the channel until you find one that doesn’t have as much interference. If it still isn’t working, try setting up Chromecast on another device that has the Google Home app – on a family member’s smartphone, for instance. If it’s working on someone else’s phone, maybe your smartphone needs an update.

Set Up the Chromecast Again

If there’s something wrong with the Settings of your device doing a factory reset will change it back to normal. That’s why performing a factory reset on your Chromecast might solve this problem. If the colour of the light is white, it means that Chromecast is powered on. Verify the color of the LED light.

Then, you can move on to the more complicated fix like resetting the device. Before moving on to the major fixes, make sure the Chromecast device is turned on. You can leave it turned on the whole time as it consumes significantly low amount of power. There isn’t a single reason to pinpoint which explains why exactly you are unable to find Chromecast.

Make sure Chromecast is within feet (4-6 meters) of the device used for setup. One final thing worth keeping in mind is that not all devices currently support “cast” technology and therefore can’t be linked to Google Home. As a last resort, if all the previous trouble shooting tips have failed, try using a different device to cast from.

After that, you can plug it back in and go through the setup process to see if that bore any fruit. Another option is to reset your Chromecast gadget to its factory settings. You don’t have to worry about losing your data – the only thing you’ll need to do is to set up the device again. Resetting Chromecast to the factory settings is simple – press the button on the back of the gadget and hold for around 20 seconds. Finally, if none of the previous steps worked, the only thing we can recommend is resetting your Chromecast to factory settings. Since, in this case, you can’t use the Google Home app to reset Chromecast, you can try with the on-device physical reset option.
